Because Oregon lost to an unbeaten #5 that everyone who saw the game knows they should have won.
When Washington loses, it will hurt Oregon, too.

Oregon over Alabama and Texas is the main debatable point at the top, but it won't matter.
We need to prepare like we will be in the CFP. If we are not (likely), we will be prepared to make short work of some team in a bowl game. I still believe the committee doesn't want Alabama in the CFP.

I want to believe but can't get passed the fact they put TCU in last year after losing their CCG to a lower ranked opponent. It's obvious to anyone who watches CFB regularly this current Bama team isn't the same lost in the wilderness team that played a close game to the Sark & UTw.

We've got 'em right where we want them!

Seriously, having the 1 loss and having Texas the team we lost to still in front isn't ideal, but the good news is we are playing our best ball now and UT doesn't seem to be.

I said it in another thread, but the pressure the last couple of weeks and into the conference championship week is going to be intense for these teams that haven't been there.

Of course, we too are subject to wild swings and so there's no guarantee we take care of our business, but at least we seem to be trending toward improvement as much as any other team in the nation.

Just keep on winning!!!

They put Georgia in after getting blown out in their CCG, and put both Alabama and Ohio St in without winning their own divisions.

But it’s like I’ve been saying… Many here were so against a 2 loss Auburn team going through hell in November to get to Atlanta getting into Atlanta jumping Alabama citing “two losses are two losses”, but when a two loss Alabama with a lesser schedule is up against a 12-1 Big XII team the “two loss” argument suddenly disappears.

None of us can be totally objective about Bama. That's true.

it’s more of my point. That and be patient and handle our own business first. Atleast 4 teams ahead of us will lose if we win out. I guarantee you that either Texas or FSU will mess up before it’s done.

I also see this “issue” a useless exercise if we lose to the barn or jawja. We beat both and we are likely playing the B1G champ in Nola like we wanted to.

You left out the part about KSU being ranked in the Top Ten (at 10) and TCU having already beaten them, but okay.

My point is the precedent has been set. If Bama at #8-7-6 goes in and wins a tight contest against Georgia at #1-2 this committee can, and probably will, recall the fact they included TCU which made it to the CG then ignore the fact they got obliterated by UGA with opinionated excuses.

The CFP is not the Supreme Court setting case law.

There's no such thing as "precedents," and I don't know why people keep thinking there is.

If there is, why are people so quick to remember that TCU didn't drop last year and forget they dropped THREE SPOTS after a 52-point win in 2014?

If we're gonna go with the precedent argument, the CFP was justified in keeping out two-loss Alabama behind one-loss TCU last year on the basis of INCLUDING one-loss Alabama over B1G champion Ohio State in 2017.

I don’t think it’s a Bama disrespect. Listening to that Boo guy on ESPN, seems to me that they are looking at different criteria for different teams. For Bama it’s the Texas game alone.

For UGA it seems to be based on Mizzou game alone. Because apparently Mizzou l’s dismantling of UT means something. Not sure what, but.

Not sure why they see tOSU over Michigan. Unless it’s SOS, but who else are they using SOS to measure other than Michigan? And if it id SOS, then why is Mich ahead of FSU and Washington?

it’s a bit of gobbledygook

Yeah, but this being an Alabama board, that part is understandable maybe even justifiable.

However, it's hilarious watching people here make terrible and inconsistent arguments - and then hypocritically bashing the CFP for allegedly doing the same thing when sometimes that's not at all what they have done.

The CFP has its problems, but here's a little secret: only the last poll matters. Period.

The rest is all just professional wrestlers cutting promos to get people angry or excited to watch their product.

1. Georgia: at Tennessee, at Georgia Tech, vs Alabama
2. Ohio State: vs Minnesota, at Michigan, (vs Iowa if the beat Michigan)
3. Michigan: at Maryland, vs Ohio State, (vs Iowa if the beat Ohio State)
4. FSU: at Florida, (vs Louisville likely)
5. Washington: at Oregon State, vs Washington State, (vs Oregon likely)
6. Oregon: at Arizona State, vs Oregon State, (vs Washington likely)
7. Texas: at Iowa State, vs Texas Tech, (vs someone, maybe KSU again)
8. Alabama: vs UTC, at Auburn, vs Georgia

Games to watch in that group:
- SECCG
- Ohio State at Michigan
- ACCCG
- Washington at Oregon State
- Oregon State at Oregon
- PAC 12 CG
- Texas at Iowa State
- BIG 12 CG
- Alabama at Auburn

Those are the games most important to us. Maybe Oregon State takes out Washington. Maybe Iowa State takes out Texas.

I think if Texas beats Iowa St then Oklahoma St has the inside track because they beat both KSU and OU head to head.

But then again they just puked all over themselves this past week vs UCF so it's not a given they get by Houston and BYU.

You need a PhD in Mathematics to try and figure out who will finish #2 in the Big12 right now.

The CFP has its problems, but here's a little secret: only the last poll matters. Period.
The last poll is the only one that matters, but the polls leading up to the last poll do matter in the sense that they create the pecking order. In other words, I do not feel good that if #6 Oregon beats #5 Washington that we would jump Oregon if we are #8 and beat #1 UGA. Nor do I feel like we would jump #7 Texas or #4 FSU if they win their championship games, because they would be ranked ahead of us and an undefeated conference champ or a 1 loss champ that we lost to I just don't see us moving ahead of.

I get that at there has been little consistency with the committee over the years, but I think the one thing they have been consistent on, at least over the last few years, is what is going to create the least amount of controversy. If it's undefeated Michigan/Ohio St, FSU, Washington and then a 1 loss Texas who are all conference champs, then that seems like the 4 that are in with the least amount of controversy, from the committee's perspective. Oregon is the one team that I think the committee can move behind us with little controversy, but the fact Texas is ranked behind them is problematic for us, and that's why I think the polls leading up to the final poll matter.
