Who is Saban's replacement?

I know there are rumors, but it seems Greg Byrne is looking dead at Kalen Deboer. Being from the Pacific Northwest himself, I am sure Byrne can ease any fears a PacNorth guy may have about moving to the Southeast. That said, I think he sticks in Seattle!
I think DeBoer wants out. He's losing Penix, his incoming recruiting class is not very good, he's losing his 9 six year guys (who not only contributed on the field but he valued their leadership).

He's been connected to the Seahawks job, he has Sexton as his attorney. He's getting a raise regardless but I think it's a great time to sell high for him. Get out before you start Big 10 play.

I’m hopeful, maybe I listened to the Seattle station too long. He would be a helluva hire.

I've never been a Funnymaine fan. He's been doing the "how Bama fans watched" thing since 2015 and it's just...stale. That "run da bawl" thing was from when Kiffin was Bama's OC. It's not STILL funny several years later.

Let's say it's 1980...you're watching an episode of Three's Company and Jack Tripper falls over the coffee table, again. Are you still laughing after seeing it for four years and probably the 60th or 70th time?

Sure, Jamaine got some of Bama fans reactions to football down to a "T" in his first video. But after that? It's as old as Rodney Dangerfield's "No respect" routine.

As for the topic, no he has no idea who the next coach is either, despite his celebrity status
Except that Dangerfield's routines are still funny. I love watching the reruns of him and Rickles on Carson.

Well, you can bet that DeBoer's meeting with his AD has Alabama as the subject of conversation. However, DeBoer could be using this meeting as a bargaining chip to get a raise, or he could be informing him he is headed to Alabama. For certain, it is one or the other. Anybody's guess right now.

I wonder if Saban and Byrne had a man in place with a verbal agreement, but the guy then got a lot more money after the retirement announcement and changed his mind.
You would think so. But I read where Saban was on the fence about retiring 5 minutes before he met with the team Wednesday. Had two speeches ready and was on the phone with Ms. Terry right up to the time he made his decision. That would mean that they had no one in place.

I thought Byrne's 72 hour statement was a bit....enthusiastic, if you will. Despite all that Saban has done to build a great program at Bama, it was never going to be an easy search. His dominance has sucked all the air out of the coaching profession for the last 16 years. There are men who would have won titles, but got fired because he couldn't compare. The entire college coaching profession is breathing a sign of relief now and MANY more schools just had their odds of achieving raised. If you're at a blue blood, there is absolutely no reason to leave now.

CNS made it sound like it was a spur of the moment decision. But Byrne knew this was coming at some point - likely within the next year or two. So I'm sure he had a list of potential replacements. But having someone "locked in" to follow CNS is another matter.

Wasn't just Byrne - Saban told the team 72 hours when he spoke to them.

I am extremely confident in Coach Saban's ability to NOT become Pat Dye.
I agree. Saban may have his new office in the stadium, but I believe that room will be gathering dust in a few weeks. All he will be doing is trying to support the transition. After that, his hat will be hanging in Florida. I think it is great that he is being so supportive.
