I agree, kinda. The defense was gassed, lost and out-coached. Alabama needed a miracle to win. DeBoer decided to let his players decide it on the field. Even though I knew it would backfire, I understood the decision.

Trying for the onside kick means that you need to fire your DC because you have given up on him and the players on that side of the ball.
All I can say is you don’t rack up a ton of wins by being passive. I don’t care if Nick Saban is the DC, you play to win the game THAT DAY.

Tidefans...The level of negative hyperbole, chicken little proclamations, and front runner syndrome ITT is surprising to me. If we donʻt win every game 42-10 itʻs essentially a loss? Where is the fun in that?

Process this game and the others however you want. Itʻs a W. We move on. We get better, if all goes to plan. Of course there are issues on defense, third down, the inability to finish on the QB. Itʻs infuriating to me, too.

But itʻs a SEC win. Iʻll take it, on to the next.

We lost to Vandy. Your entire post is coming from the wrong perspective.

Erik at RBR mentioned that DeBoer teams are very inconsitent
Last year I was living out in PAC country, so all of the late night PAC games were actually reasonable hours. I watched a lot of Washington games last season and was never impressed. I thought they were badly overrated. They struggled to beat bad teams sometimes. I kept telling a buddy that they were going to get exposed. Had to eat my words when they went to the playoffs and beat Texas. But I still say that they were not a very impressive football team all season. DeBoer might have an impressive record, but I kinda think it might be a smoke screen. The way we are playing now, it reminds me of the bad Washington games I watched last year. Except it’s worse because we play better competition.

Tell you what, DeBoer has won a ton of games in his career in Podunk conferences but I think he is finding out that the coach on the other sideline is as good or better than he is each and every week.
I said it last week but if you go back and look at last year’s Washington team, he had a lot of close games vs inferior opponents. You can get away with that in the Pac-12, not in the SEC. He may be the best coach in the country right now when it comes to big games but beating the teams you’re supposed to beat and in convincing fashion is what separates good teams from great teams.
