No surprise with this verdict.

Judge looks like he may have have some surgery on his brain(?)

Anyway......

Just guessing, but it looks to me like the judge has had a lot of surgery on the right side of his face. This could be due to trauma or cancer. My guess is cancer. It looks like the right ramus of his mandible is missing as if it had been resected. Kudos to the judge for not allowing his disfigurement to get the best of him.

87-year-old Pikesville woman and her daughter severely injured during carjacking

A violent carjacking involving a group of suspected juveniles has left a 66-year-old woman, Valerie Smith, and her 87-year-old mother recovering from injuries. The incident, which took place in Pikesville last week, underscores the alarming rise in juvenile crime across the city.

Smith was dropping off groceries to her mom when she says she was approached by a teen wearing a ski mask and all-black clothing.

Smith says the suspect pulled a gun on her and a struggle ensued. Before she knew it, another suspect approached and pulled her off the first suspect.

As Smith was fighting to get the keys out of the vehicle, one of the suspects slammed the door on her hand, trapping it in the door, she said.

That’s when the suspects sped off, dragging Valarie Smith along.

“He was just dragging me down the road and my mother was trying to hold me,” Smith said.

Eventually, Valarie was able to break free, but realized her mother was seriously injured.

“When I ran back over to try to help her, she was lying in a pool of blood,” Smith said.

Ms. Edna had also been run over.

“Both of her legs are broken, her ankle is broken, her pelvic is fractured. They punctured a rib. They cracked a rib, which punctured her lung. And she has a small, lower spinal fracture,” Smith said.

So far, no arrests have been made, Baltimore County Police said.

“I would say they were probably teenagers, maybe between 16 and 18,” Smith said.

Recent statistics from the Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office reveal a 208% increase in juvenile crime over the past three years. In 2024 alone, the office has prosecuted 590 juvenile cases as of July 15. Of these, 212 were related to car thefts or carjackings, 246 were for robbery, and 58 involved firearm offenses. This marks a dramatic rise from 2022, when only 191 juvenile cases were prosecuted.

Yesterday on my way home from visiting Mom, as I turned south on Riverside Drive there was a motor cop in the median doing radar on north bound traffic. I tapped my horn and gave him a quick wave "Hi".

Then as I proceeded south I tapped the high beams for ALL north bound vehicles to warn them. Most of them were going fast enough to get written, but not fast enough to pose any danger. I saw many hit their brakes so hopefully they escaped getting cited.

I fully support our Blue - unless they are acting shady and/or not acting in the best interest of our community.

This is a wild story. I wonder what the assassination was over? Because I agree with you that it was just that. Was it personal, or professional, or did United deny someone care and they died sparking a revenge motive? This will be one to watch. It's a terrible situation.

The video on twitter makes this appear to be a professional hit, including use of a suppressor and subsonic ammo (requiring manual cycling).

Yeah, I didn't know that part. Sounds like a professional or someone that did a lot of prep.

The facts are rather bizarre. Using a silencer. Why would you need to silence the rounds when you are shooting him on the sidewalk outside of a very busy hotel? There were a number of witnesses so why the need to silence the gunshots?. I think it was a very technology-aware individual who 1) had a beef with United Health Care, or 2) it was someone hired by the wife.

Police response time. It's going to require someone calling it in rather than a local patrol hearing it (and IME in NYC, there are cops everywhere).
