I loved that as a kid. Not so much as an adultThis season for me was like being forced to eat potted meat on saltines.

We’ve also seen him freeze up in the face of a rush, seen him bail out of the pocket early when he should have stepped up in the pocket, and seen him throw the ball in the dirt in front of open receivers, throw a softball deep into double coverage, etc. These are correctable but indicate to many that he is not a slam dunk candidate. That comports with the fact that two coaching staffs seem to have been reluctant to turn to him. They even started Buchner over him.Sigh. It’s like Ty slept with someone’s sister. I just don’t get it. We have seen him make throws in real games. We have seen him evade pressure…IN REAL GAMES.
In 2023 Buchner was far an away the better quarterback in the fall scrimmage Lonergan was the 2nd best followed by Ty.We’ve also seen him freeze up in the face of a rush, seen him bail out of the pocket early when he should have stepped up in the pocket, and seen him throw the ball in the dirt in front of open receivers, throw a softball deep into double coverage, etc. These are correctable but indicate to many that he is not a slam dunk candidate. All many are saying is that a truly open competition is hopefully in order. In reality, as we all know, what the fans think is meaningless and should be. If CKD makes Simpson the presumptive starter, that’s how it will be and should be. If not, fine too.
No one is owed anything except for promises made by this staff.
I have oft wondered if the reason Ty has not yet transferred elsewhere is related to the reason he's not won the starting job before. In 2023 Buchner was far an away the better quarterback in the fall scrimmage Lonergan was the 2nd best followed by Ty.
I’ve seen Ty in 2 closed scrimmages and while i think he is a far better “quarterback” than Milroe… I’m not so sure he is this messiah most of his supporters make him out to be.
what was implied there, but not said, was that NILroe was no better than 4th best (and I would bet it was actually 5th behind Eli before Eli left).I have oft wondered if the reason Ty has not yet transferred elsewhere is related to the reason he's not won the starting job before.
Who here has said THAT? All we need is Jake Coker type production at the QB position. That's all we are really expecting from Ty.In 2023 Buchner was far an away the better quarterback in the fall scrimmage Lonergan was the 2nd best followed by Ty.

I personally think he could be as good as AJ but with Bryce Mobility.Who here has said THAT? All we need is Jake Coker type production at the QB position. That's all we are really expecting from Ty.
IIRC, the issue was primarily his wife who is from Detroit, has a PhD, and is black. It may have been, not sure, that she refused to move to Alabama. They have a young ~6 y/o daughter. His wife may have had concerns.I don't like how he showed up and presented himself as the new OC and left like a thief in the night.
But
I understand not wanting to live in the South and especially if you weren't born here.
It doesn't even have to do with People or Places... it could be over something like the weather.
The heat and humidity here in the spring and summer is absolutely brutal and it's difficult to deal with even if you lived here your whole life.
I can 100% understand someone from the NW or MW or NE not liking it and not being able to deal with it.
Well I have no idea about all that but *if* any of that type of stuff was/is a concern I’m not sure it would change after 12 months.IIRC, the issue was primarily his wife who is from Detroit, has a PhD, and is black. I don’t know if that was an issue when Saban considered him.
Ty isn't guaranteed the starting job. I agree he's a better QB than Milroe but still has issues of his own that he'll need to work on in the pff season. I dont expect the staff to bring in a QB but if they do it will say a lot about what the staff thinks of the returning QB's.In 2023 Buchner was far an away the better quarterback in the fall scrimmage Lonergan was the 2nd best followed by Ty.

I think it’s Ty’s to lose next year but I’m not entirely sure that the staff is over the moon about him. I think the idea might be give Mack and Russell another year before deciding on the future.Ty isn't guaranteed the starting job. I agree with this to an extent and have said the same thing before, but there are at least a couple of pass plays in the playbook. I only know this because Milroe keeps getting intercepted and strip sacked. You nailed it, Gilbert!
The QB is exactly why we only had 5-10% of the playbook available.
Since so many people (not aimed at you) keep saying that Simpson should have come in, let me remind them that the rest of the offensive players (OL, RB & WRs) were only practicing with the limited playbook as well. So its not like putting in Simpson would have made the rest (or any more) of the playbook available.![]()
In this day and age, that's kinda sillyIIRC, the issue was primarily his wife who is from Detroit, has a PhD, and is black. It may have been, not sure, that she refused to move to Alabama. They have a young ~6 y/o daughter. His wife may have had concerns.

It’s the reason I don’t go out West, don’t want to catch the gay.In this day and age, that's kinda silly

I can easily see Ty being as good as AJM.This right here.
There’s a good deal of headroom between Milroe and the Messiah that would have been a welcome change.
