Re: Rivals.com 2010 Rivals 250: Five-Star Candidates

Rivals.com 2010 Five-Star Candidates: Ten to Watch
RB Michael Dyer, 5-9/200, Little Rock (Ark.) Little Rock Christian
Scouting Report: Dyer is something special, showing an array of top-notch attributes. First, he has a compact build at 5-9 and 200 pounds. He can run with power and has good speed. But his defining qualities are his exceptional quickness, balance and vision, and the ability to make people miss, especially in the hole. Dyer makes some improbable plays and shows superior instincts. He also has the ability to make something out of nothing and is a threat to score every time he touches the ball, no matter the situation.
Statistics/Personal: Dyer rushed for more than 3,600 yards as a freshman and sophomore and scored 34 rushing touchdowns.
Jamie Newberg on Michael Dyer: "You hear how good Dyer is, but you don't believe it until you see him on film. He makes some plays where you just scratch your head and ask, 'How did he just do that?' Two things a running back has to have are balance and vision, and he is excellent in those areas."
College: Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Florida, Oklahoma and USC are the top schools recruiting Dyer.

Younger Favre sets Mississippi state record
Bay Saint Louis (Miss.) St. Stanislaus quarterback Dylan Favre, as he usually does on game day, received a text message from his famous uncle - superstar NFL signal-caller Brett Favre - the afternoon of his team's Oct. 31 regular-season finale.

"Good luck and do what you do," it read.

A few hours later, Dylan Favre etched his name into the record books by completing 23 of 35 passes for 358 yards and five touchdowns in a 42-27 Rock-A-Chaws win over Poplarville.

Dallas, TX. WR Mike Davis is very interested in Bama. Even though he does not have a Bama offer, it appears he wants one. He said that Alabama is his top school. Among the schools that have offered him he says that Texas Tech. is his favorite.

He appears to be a pretty good prospect. Do you think he eventually gets an offer? Hate to see a promising young ahlete who wants to come to Bama not get the chance. And it would be good to start making some in roads to Texas.

There is a reason that he is so interested in Bama, and vice-versa. He is a a top WR prospect and Bama is in close contact with him. I would not be surprised if his grades are in order to see him get an offer.

Good deal. There are a lot of good WR propects in 2010 as well. We are gonna be stacked at the position soon. We definitely need to get Jeremy Richardson and Solomon Patton. Hopefully we can pull a few outta state guys like Davis, Keenan Allen, Markeith Ambles, or Ted Meline. I tend to think 2010 MIGHT be Sabans best class so far.

I don't disagree with you about the great potential of the Bama 2010 class. However, if the Bama 2009 signing class goes as well as it looks like it has the potential to finish up, it could end up as CNS' best ever signing class. That is saying something after seeing the 2008 # 1 class perform.

Excellent point Surf. We could finish this class up better quality wise than the 2008 class. Especially if we get a surprise or two like Randle. But 2010 to me looks like it will super stacked and there appears to be a LOT of big time recruits looking our way.

For what it's worth, a friend of mine who coaches at D'Iberville (Kevin Norwood's school) says that Dylan Favre is the real deal.

My first thought was that the hype was all about the kid's name, but this coach has watched Norwood and a bunch of other D-1 guys come through the Gulf Coast and says that Favre can seriously play.

Hopefully or 2010 class' QB will be Terrance Broadway. But I hear Phillip Sims is pretty high on us as well. We may take two QBs next year anyway. I think it was CJM that said he'd like to have at least four QBs on scholly.

I'm expecting us to sign two QBs next year, unless we fit another one into this year's class (which isn't looking that likely right now). Broadway and Sims are probably at or near the top of the list at this point, but there's still a long way between now and then and more prospects will surely pop up.

WR Keiwone Malone is reporting a Bama offer.

Malone Makes His Mark
Many fans from across the state have never heard of Memphis-Mitchell high school standout Keiwone Malone, don’t worry they will. Learn more about one of the best prospects in the Southeast for the class of 2010.

Malone reported, “I have offers from Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, Duke, and North Carolina.” He went on to add, “My number one school is Miami, then Georgia, Tennessee, and then Auburn” As for the Hurricanes, who have not offered yet, Malone commented, “They came and watched me last year.”

Has anyone watched Maudrecus Humphrey's video on Rivals? Does he show anything special? I can't watch anything on Rivals since they changed up the site a bit.

I've seen him play a fair amount, and he is one hell of an athlete. He is very athletic, and he can play multiple positions as well. He's got pretty good size too, so I certainly think he'll end up playing in the SEC somewhere. Athletic kids with good size, and illustrious lineage, always find their ways to playing in this conference somewhere.

He is the son of Bobby Humphrey, and I think we all remember just how good he was. Watching Maudrecus play, you can definitely tell that he is indeed his father's son.

This far out it's hard to say anything definitively, but frankly I think he's clearly an SEC caliber talent, and if our coaching staff wants him, given the family ties, I'm sure that he will be ours.

Have you seen anything special from Humphrey that separates him from the other players on the field?.Doesn't he run track at Hoover as well?

It looks like we are the early leader for Jarrick Williams, the 2010 safety prospect out of Prichard.

That's very big news, because Williams will be an elite prospect. Moreover, it helps that he spent the 2007 season at Vigor with Burton Scott, and has since transferred to Blount where he is coached by former Crimson Tide player Kelvin Sigler.

re: 2010 Alabama Commitments and Prospects List (Updated 01/05)

PrepTennessee.com: Class of 2010 Gears Up For Spotlight
There are two class of 2010 prospects from Tennessee in the Scout.com top 100. The first and highest ranked prospect is outside linebacker Jaques Smith, 6-2, 230 pounds from Ooltewah (Tenn.). Smith has been collecting interest from several schools in the SEC including a recent visit to Georgia and a visit from Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin. The interest in Smith is only going to grow as he moves into the winter months filled with junior day visits.

Another top prospect that has been showing off his skills is junior wide receiver Keiwone Malone, 6-1, 165 pounds from Memphis-Mitchell. Malone has already picked up offers from Tennessee, Duke, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina. Even with some of these top schools offering him Malone still has one school he lists as a favorite that he is waiting on an offer from. An offer from Miami would be a big name to add to the list for Malone.
