Asked what races he's watching today (paraphrasing) he replies "Georgia - fascinating..."

"It used to be putting a gun to your ex-wife's head would be disqualifying."

~ former Minnesota Senator Al Franken (on CNN a few minutes ago)
So was getting caught smoking crack with an FBI informant on video and going to prison, but it didn't stop that guy from getting re-elected mayor of the nation's capital, either. And I'm not talking about Rob Ford, either. :)

But he's right about one thing as far as candidacies: as Tom Nichols says repeatedly, we are not a serious nation.

As an independent with no party affiliation I was proud to vote straight down the line for democrats for (probably - can't remember for sure about '92) the first time in my life.

Democrats are often misguided and ineffectual, but the GOP is down right dangerous.
That was my attitude as well.

If a GOP candidate was unopposed, I wrote myself in-even though my rep, Austin Scott, seems relatively sane. I just can't with the GOP any more.

Well Frat boy Kemp kicked Stacey’s ass like expected. Now we hold our breath to the midnight hour that she didn’t doom the United States by giving Herschel more votes by running.

Good chance Warnock is going to win. Or maybe it will go to run off. Looking at the governor results, GA GOP voters are a bunch of morons for selecting such a terrible candidate in Walker. I’ll take it though.

Heading into yesterday, I was pretty sure we were going to lose our state senator to the president of the IA Senate, who was known for saying women who get abortions should be prosecuted, and that teachers should go to jail for teaching ideas that Republicans don't agree with. Luckily, good won out, and this guy is now being shown the exit from the IA house.

I will have to say that she worked her tail off. Knocked on doors on my street. All she had to do to get my vote was reproductive freedom and fight the crazies.

And she did this even after being gerrymandered out of her old senate district. This guy thought he was a shoe-in because he was running in the white suburbs.

Alaska will be interesting once the ranked choice is counted.

Murkowski trails the Trumpie Republican by 3,500 votes. But the Democrat has 20,000 votes and if enough of them put Murkowski second she wins.

In the House race, the Democrat incumbent has 47%, Palin 26%, and the other Republican has 24%, and the Libertarian 1.7%. Second place votes will decide it. I would guess most Palin voters went with the other Republican (whose father held the seat as a Democrat). But did his supporters prefer the Democrat over Palin? Same question about the Libertarians.

I see a runoff coming, and I definitely favor Warnock there without Kemp on the ballot.
Kemp won't be on the ballot, but neither will Abrams and I'm left wondering if that will effect turnout as well.

Oliver grabbed a little over 2% of the votes, so if the people who voted for him show up to vote again, that might tell the tale. Still, I'm guessing most of them won't, so who knows?
