I fully expect Jalen to start, although I'd prefer Tua. At the same time, I think it's possible to make too much of the choice of starter. I think Jalen will be given one final opportunity to show that he can - or can't - handle distributing the ball in an efficient manner and space will develop between the two. When it's clear that Tua will get the bulk of the snaps, I think Jalen's redshirt will be preserved...
I care immensely about who takes the first step because it sends a message to all the recruits out there.

I'm not sure about it, but from what I've read, Lousiville doesn't have a very good defense, so I expect he'll have decent stats.
Not many people really have confidence in Jalen against the teams you have to beat to win it all. He could start and look good against Louisville. Tua needs the work to develop in game type situations before the hard games, although reading about Louisville scares me a bit. Their D will be better than we expect I suspect. Tua seems the clear choice to be a great offense, but CS is like CPB, he makes the decision his way. They are the best ever, but doesn't mean their decisions were always right. Their leadership and development of players and a team put them above everybody else. The auburn game last year is what is so troubling about seeing Jalen get the start. Having said that, I do not expect him to start. Just cannot see it.
They don’t and he will have better stats than that, or he may not play much more at Bama.

Amen to that. Stidham is so much better than Hurts that it may counter our other advantages. Two in a row to Auburn would not be good.

Amen to that. Some folks say they are ok with losing to Auburn if we make it to the playoffs anyway. I kind of wish I were wired that way but I am not.
I’ve read A LOT about Louisville’s defense (both this year and last), and Van Gorder is a journeyman for a reason. Just curious to know what you read that makes you think they’ll be better than last year.

Nebraska RS FR QB Gebbia wasn’t named the starter, he dropped out of school today leaving the huskers with one scholarship QB
times are changing, especially with highly rated QBs.
i didn't realize van gorder was there. for the life of me, i cannot figure out how that guy stays employed as a football coach
I remember Saban was asked once about how he was able to continue to recruit top ranked players when the roster has so much talent. He said he basically told players he was recruiting “best players play and if you’re one of the best, you’re going to play†.
Seemed to stray from that last year and I don't think it's just a coincidence that our recruiting was the worst it's been in years. When the top wide receiver in your state wants nothing to do with you, that can't be good.
Last year’s recruiting class (a pathetic top six class) was down because of multiple things, not because of Jalen.
