Bama Players Transferring (catch all thread)

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Heaven forbid anyone want substantive proof.
A.) With a little discernment and common sense you can cull the talking out of their tooskie's from the people who have solid information.
B.) Those who know things aren't going to publicly put out for consumption who they are getting their information from or they will no longer be getting said information.

Nothing wrong with wanting a solid source but it does get tiresome when someone is consistently dropping you a gift of knowledge and the reoccurring question is "how do you know this".

I'll play devil's advocate.

The fact that there is concrete evidence of it happening now doesn't prove that it was happening in the past.

That being said, it's entirely possible that it was.

Time will tell.

The past hasn't been but just this season and the season before. So it's not like when we say "the past" we're talking about significant time. Also, things like this are like roaches, where you see one or two it means there's already 100 of them. I'm certain Mabakwe didn't get the idea himself to make demands on playing both ways unless he already had witnessed other players being able to make demands. No way he was the first.

Certainly possible.

I guess it's a trapping of my profession.

Pretty close. UTA and UTK and tOSU and Michigan not so much. They don’t benefit from the seismic shift.

Oregon yes. Miami yes. Colorado yes.
I knew Tennessee and Michigan had thrown large sums at their QBs and Ohio state bought key pieces but I get your point that everyone is doing it at that level. And yes Saban certainly would have utilized it had he been here. Is the barn working at the Miami/ole miss/ Colorado level? If not I would be very surprised. They needed this environment for years to legally operate how they’ve always operated.

Short term, not a bad idea.

Long term, you don't invest seven figures in a guy for depth and a wish and a prayer. Hopefully our staff feels as if he has the potential to develop into an All-SEC or All-American type player at the WR position or we probably should have let him hop on over to OM.
I think the key is he wants to do both, like Travis Hunter. He played both in high school. So the idea here is you give him reps at WR to keep him happy and add depth and if that doesn't work out, well... he's still a CB.

Not sure where Charlie Potter gets his information or if he can prove this is happening.

It is just like coaching searches. Place layers between you.

“Coach, there are reports you are the top candidate to replace Hayden Fox at Minnesota State. Any comment on that?”

“Don’t know where that comes from. I haven’t spoken with anyone….”

Meanwhile his agent is negotiating a deal with three university lawyers, the AD and university president.

Same thing with these players. Their rep talks with booster/individual serving as a mouthpiece for the coaching staff.

Player says “nah..I haven’t talked to anyone”.

The dead give away is the guy that enters the portal one day, takes visit the next day, and commits that night.

Saban used to let players play the position for a year that they wanted, if it didn't work out they went back to where the coaches wanted them to play. The only difference is Saban did it because he saw value in treating players that way, now the players have leverage. Not that I think that leverage is a good thing just that it did used to happen to some degree.

As of Sunday. Something we just have to get used to but don't have to like it.

Georgia, Tenn and Texas are playoff bound and have 22 total players in the portal.
I expect that number to increase when those teams are eliminated from the playoffs or after the season is officially over for their respected schools.
