Some OU fans I know want to now scrap the playoff system altogether and go back to pre-1998 and allow the AP voters to choose the NC. They basically think Bama and OU should swap places in the poll and simply don't understand the role that SOS plays with the committee. But they will in about 5 years....

True Dat! Only thing is not sure how many more games this group can get up for. Arky is going to be a tough game but we really have to get up for the Auburn game on the road. Then there would potentially be the SEC Championship game we'd have to play the best game of the season to get into the playoff. After that, two more games to get through against the stiffest of competition and a potential rematch with UGA. Just seems like too steep of a mountain for this year's team and I am optimistic by nature.
Tough road for sure starting with Arkansas after this week's much-needed pushover.
The talent is there to do it. I'm just concerned about where the team's mind is in relation to toughness, finishing and overcoming all the mistakes we continue to make.
There's certainly no more room for a half-butt performance like we saw against LSU. If we don't bring it for 3 straight games we don't see the CFP this year.

This will be the hardest 3 game stretch leading up to and including SEC championship that I can remember. We have only about 30% chance of going undefeated.
We get Arkansas at home on the 20th. It’s the barn on the road the following week.
That's right. That's the second time I've got that confused! Ark. will still be a tough out!
There are so many inconsistencies when it comes to how much they value head-to-head.
Penn State, Auburn, and Wisconsin are all 6-3, and Penn State beat BOTH Auburn and Wisconsin this season. Despite that, Auburn is ranked #17 and Wisconsin is ranked #18 while Penn State is unranked.
Exactly -- people are getting way too upset about Bama being ranked #2, as if there's some other "correct" choice out there for who should get the #2 spot. As you said, literally every team near the top aside from Georgia has their own problems.
I'm not really sure who people think is so much more deserving of the #2 spot than Bama.
I would guess that I know quite a few more OU fans than you know, and not a single one of them believes one word of that poll-swapping nonsense. What they do believe is that Oklahoma should have climbed one, possibly two spots after what happened last weekend. In any case, I can't quite fathom why fans of the No. 2 team in the CFP rankings should give a rats rear end what No. 8 thinks?

I'm with you. I don't think we are within two touchdowns of last year's team even if we play our best, but if we play our best, we can beat any other team out there this year. Of course, if we play like we played last Saturday, any of those top 10 teams could beat us. People just like to complain.
The way I see it, the only choices for #2 are Alabama and Oregon, and I'd pick Alabama in a neutral-site game against Oregon without hesitation.
Oklahoma has a tougher stretch coming up here with consecutive games @ Baylor, vs Iowa State, @ Oklahoma State, and then probably the Big 12 Championship. They have a chance to show that they're deserving of a spot in the top-4 but, as it currently stands, I don't think they should be in the top-4.
I was listening to sports talk radio here in Atlanta yesterday and the guy who heads-up Dawgnation was on and said that he fully expects Georgia to win the SEC and national championship, and the real question is where do they go after this year. Can they build something similar to Alabama and Clemson.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Until Georgia actually wins a national championship, I can't believe that any supporter would take for granted that they are going to win it all this year. I'm not going to say that this is the belief of the majority of the fans, but there is definitely some growing sentiment that anything short of a national championship for them this year is a complete failure of biblical proportions. Don't get me wrong, they are very good but so were we in 2013, 2016 and 2018 at this point in the season.
I'm not saying Georgia can't win it all this year, but we can definitely beat them, and so can whomever else makes the playoffs. Texas A&M can beat them as well if we can't get past Auburn. I was just dumbfounded by someone who covers UGA would say something so idiotic.

You’re probably right, but if they think Cincy is the 5th best team in the country after Saturday, I’d have to question their decision process. They probably caved to pressure. I can list six teams below Cincy right now I’d take straight up to beat them.
This is Georgia we are talking about. It's been their year every year since 1980. Garrison Hearst was the next Herschel Walker, until Knoshawn Mareno, until Todd Gurley, until Nick Chubb, and so on and so forth.
That's the whole thing. There's really no point in worrying about it. The only chance we have to make the playoffs is by winning out, and we are guaranteed to make the playoffs if we do so.
Just like the Heisman race, the CFP race is still just in a "hold" pattern, pending the remaining games, including the conference title games. Everything will settle out by then. I think the worst situation for CFP hopefuls is if Alabama were to upset the Dawgs. I expect Alabama to enter that game as the underdog, and I actually think that will be good for this team.

I lived in the state for 10 years. I know quite a few. If Oklahoma finishes 13-0, I am fairly certain they'll be in the final 4. If the season ended today, I'm completely certain they would not deserve to be. Such is the ranking.
If the Sooners win out they deserve getting in, much more than Cincy
