If Tua returns I would think it would be not to break records but to prove he is back to being 100%. I think it would be in his best interest to share the starting position with Mac, not carry the load all by himself. Tua and Mac as 1A and 1B with the backup to be determined.

I can actually see Bama having 2 QB's drafted in next years draft if things go well. Tua does not need to break records to prove his worth he just needs to be back to his former self and stay healthy!

Again, I'll state here's why I think he'll stay and it doesn't have anything to do with Bama (although I do think he loves the Bama Nation and would like to set things straight after this year).

He has to declare by Jan. 17. but the draft is not until April 23.

Even assuming he got a good report in NYC yesterday, he NOR the NFL teams will know for sure that he'll be the same post rehab - and "by the same" I'm referring to his amazing accuracy to hit small windows, which is what makes him such a great NFL prospect IMO.

An NFL team(s) may tell him they'll draft him at ____ in the first round right now, but what if he has a setback before April 23???

If he declares and his stock drops by April it could mean he'd be losing 20 million dollars in guaranteed $$$.

As I said yesterday, I think he's more in control of his future if he comes back to Bama, rehabs without the pressure of NFL watching over him, plays another year, learns to throw the ball away, and enters the draft as a top 3 pick next year.

Yeah, he could get injured but that's why they have insurance policies.

Wow! I thought it would be close, but had no idea it would be this even. Been within 0 to 3 percent since opening. Good comments throughout.
Yep, some very good points by all of us. Look, I am fine either way. I would LOVE to have him back. But if he goes then I will be happy for him and follow his career in the NFL (though I really do not care for the NFL). Bama is going to be fine either way as well. Tougher schedule next year but I like our chances for another championship run.

If I was in Tua's shoes, I would be very tempted to return knowing that I'm worthy of more $$$ if stay healthy all year long and plus next year's team has a phenomenal shot of winning it all next year if Smith, Ruggs and McKinney return as well. Most importantly, staying healthy is the key of course.

I'm just in fear of what happens with our logjam of QB's if he returns. If Bryce Young lives up to the hype big time during spring practice, I can bet you that we will definitely see one or possibly two go to the transfer portal. I just hope it isn't Mac Jones because I was really impressed with his demeanor when got thrown into the wolves. Don't be shocked if he goes to the transfer portal and have LSU try to lure him in!! 😳😳

Anything could happen...but I feel pretty good if we have Tua in 2020 and Bryce Young in 2021. BY is unknown, but looks to be closer to a Tua protege than his own brother. JMO, of course.

interesting point—that jan to april gap does not favored injured players

Couple of things: First, I just think you are wrong about the MSU players intentionally trying to hurt Tua. They were trying to make a play and so was Tua...just wish Tua had thrown it out of bounds before they jumped him. If anything, I actually think Tua is more at fault. It's just my opinion but I think he fell awkwardly because he was trying to protect his tender ankle. Nobody will ever be able to prove it, but most athletes don't fall to the ground on their knees up under them as he did.

Second, I could be wrong, but with the QB talent at Bama and on the way, I don't think Tyson will ever see the field. And as much as I love Tua and his family, with the addition of Bryce Young, I also doubt Taulia has as much of a chance now.

You could be RIGHT, but look again at the way they fell on him.

I've gone back and forth on this but 2 things sway my vote to go. 1st: Several so-called NFL experts say he will be a top 15 and maybe a top 10 choice in the draft. 2nd: If he stays we may lose Jones and possibly a top QB commitment.

We wouldn't lose a top commit. BY is already committed and will be on campus. Tua will be gone after next year. Jones leaving is a real possibility.

This is exactly how I looked at it a couple of weeks ago and thought "yeah, he really might come back." However, it seems more and more like the draft analysts (take it for what it's worth) believe he will be at least a top 15 pick. If that's truly the case, then I just can't see him staying, nor should he.

I realize that getting a top 15 grade and actually being drafted in the top 15 are two very different things, particularly when the player is not only labeled as injury prone but is actually injured. However, I look at the rest of the QB draft class outside of Burrow and just don't see a QB even close to drafting over an injured Tua, but then no one will mistake me for a NFL GM either. Next year's draft class may be a little more crowded with at least Lawrence and Fields being potential first rounders, plus Fromm (perhaps laughable) and whomever else might rise up.

Yep. They are VERY different. There's just as much risk (maybe statistically even more risks) in Tua coming out and not being a top 15-20 pick than him staying and getting hurt again at Alabama. That's how unpredictable draft day is, especially the first round. There's a lot of emotions and adrenaline on Day 1. Teams get antsy, make knee jerk decisions or go real conservative and make the "safe pick" rather than the "not so safe pick" that they originally had planned to pick. A healthy Aaron Rodgers plummeting to the 24th pick is all you need to know about the unpredictability of the draft. If I'm remembering correctly, he and Alex Smith were supposed to be taken immediately off the board within the top 5 picks, at worst top 10. Draft grades don't mean squat come the day of the draft. Aaron Rodgers is only one example of players who had high pre-draft grade rankings then fell way below them the day of the draft.
