Rolando McClain goin pro?

So what does everyone think about McClain going pro?

I mean I personally don't know why he wouldn't come back next year. Who is there to beat us next year? Florida will be down, LSU sucks, Ole Miss is losing the worst player Snead who isn't even going to get drafted because he is terrible, UT has no QB and Berry is gone. No one in the SEC will beat us... Texas and Oklahoma will be down, Ohio State might be good, TCU/CINCY/BOISE/IOWA cannot compete with the SEC...I just don't see how we won't win the SEC and Natioanl Championship again...

Why would McClain not want to win another ring??

The team is going to be stacked next year, especially the Offense. Colin Peel will be the biggest loss of specialty guys. The D is losing some key players but we will have Hightower back.

I think we got a good shot of running the table...

With all the potential changes in the NFL that could happen there is no way he is coming back. CNS will say as much as well. Ro has meant and always will mean so much to the Capstone. He will forever be a legend and I look forward to seeing him destroying folks in the NFL. I just wish he could go to one of my teams but he will not be around that long.

Let me preface by saying that I hope McClain stays for his senior season.

BUT

I have no hard feelings towards Ro if he decides to go pro. He's been a fantastic player for us at the linebacker position (greatest since D. Thomas??) and deserves to have his paycheck and time in the league. He's done everything at the college level (Butkus award, national championship) except for winning the Heisman himself and honestly has little left to prove.

Todd McShay (ESPN's draft guy other than Kiper) has ranked him the #1 linebacker in the draft as well as the #6 overall player. I say the time is right for him to jump.

As I've heard Coach Saban say, I'd rather have an incredible player for 3 years than a mediocre player for 5 years. We are soon to be a NFL talent machine and will be that much more attractive to recruits.

He needs to go pro and join the line of great LB in the NFL from BAMA!

I would love to have him back for one more year, but really, it's too much money to leave on the table.

I would hope so.

They were scrolling Alabama's and Texas's draft potential players across the bottom of the screen last night.

Rolando McClain, #1 ILB, #6 player overall. Of course, that's someone's opinion, but it's likely accurate. He's done all he can do on the collegiate level. He can get his degree later.

New salary cap after this year for players going pro. So alot more money this year if he comes out.

Either way I am happy with whatever he decides and wish him the best of luck.

I'd be disappointed in Ro if he didn't go... and so would Saban. Saban has said that if the situation was right he would encourage his players to go rather than be selfish and hold-on. The "right" situation means a first round pick, guaranteed money.... which is what Ro has. He has achieved the ultimate goal in college football (a Championship ring). I have high standards, but I will never snuff a single season Championship just because we don't have two in a row.

Ro must go! He'd be crazy not to.

Of course, if he stays because he's crazy about Bama, that's ok with me. But I'm not exactly counting on it. :)

The entire list of things in the OP are the exact reasons NOT to come back. There is nothing left for Ro to prove.

The reasons to go?
Sam Bradford, for sure. Marvin Constant even more. How sickening would it be to see Rolando pass up millions only to blow his knee out and end his career (before it began) due to some Auburn chop-block artist or an overmatched lineman from Duke or Georgia State?

I can't remember a player I've enjoyed watching more than #25. I am going to miss him greatly, but I also don't remember being so ready for a player to go pro for his own good. After seeing #30 go down early in the year, I feel even more strongly about it. Go collect your payday, young man - God has blessed you with it!

I realize that he is no doubt the best there is and a first rounder, but i mean who is to say he will not blow his knee out the first game of his pro career and never play again. I mean yeah he will still have the big paycheck, but how could he be happy. Football is a dangerous sport and people get hurt all the time. It is the chance you take when you sign up to play. I think that coming back and winning another championship is worth a lot more than getting drafted and going to a team like the lions or the the rams. He will not make a big difference on a team like that. They will still lose 75%- 90% of the games his first couple seasons. I know I would much rather win me another SEC and National championship.

You keep talking about Sam Bradford, look and Tim Tebow, as bad as I hate him, He decided to come back had a great year. Heisman candidate, played in an SEC championship game, very well could have played in another National Championship. He didn't hurt his draft status any. If anything he helped it.

I Don't blame him for going id he goes. I don't know if I could turn down millions. But I think he does still have something to play for in alabama. He can help them get #14... Who wouldn't want to be apart of that????

Next year's version of these guys: Jake Locker & Andrew Luck. I've talked about this before, and I'm all for higher education and the experience, etc. etc. But my goodness, it's too risky. I'd rather take that risk at the next level at least with a substantial amount of money in my bank account.
