I was hearing that it was only a rumor. Guess it was legitimate afterall. Shouldn't be too hard to find someone interested.

That's puzzling to me, why would he leave Seattle and move his family clear across the country if he was gonna retire two years later? If he is a good friend of Coach Shula's, surely he would have told him that prior to taking the job.

Is there any chance that Coach Pollard would return?

Seriously doubt it would be offered, since Coach Shula let him go.

I figure Coach might go back to some of his contacts in the pros, much the same as when he hired Johnston.

No, seeing that his strength and conditioning style doesn't fit into Shula's system.
Not true, Coach Pollard said after fRan left that he favored a program more geared to football movements than fRan's bulk and strength concept. He holds a Masters rating in the S&C field so I'd say he could formulate any type program Coach Shula wanted.

You do realize that CMS fired Pollard and hired Johnston because Pollard wasn't doing the job as CMS wanted it done?

While I have heard great things about Coach Johnston

I am not terribly concerned about finding a qualified candidate to fill the position. Coach Shula knows what he's looking for in a S&C coach and will get a good coach...that I guarantee you!

Count me in the not concerned column. Coach Shula knows a lot of good S&C coaches, especially from his many years in the NFL. As far as Pollard goes, he was a very nice man who I have a lot of respect for. But I don't regret Shula letting him go. He wasn't doing the job that Shula wanted, and that is enough for me.

If Coach Shula didn't see fit for Pollard to stay I agree wth his descision, and it's Coach Johnson's life, he might want to finally relax!! I just wish him the best of luck if the case is he does retire! But until it is confirmed I won't hold it as fact!

I am deeply saddened....(re. Kent Johnston)

:frown: This news deserves at least two active threads :frown:

I thought Kent Johnston would be around for years.

I consider this to be HORRIBLE news.

We need Coach Shula's resilliance yet again to find a comparable replacement!

Coach Johnston thank you for getting our strength and conditioning program in tip top shape.

You will be missed! :frown:

First I've heard of that and I'm on the BAMA boards just about every day. I'm pretty sure I would have noticed something like that.
