In rare rebuke of Trump, Supreme Court strikes down tariffs
The Supreme Court on Friday struck down most of President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs, a ruling that deals a major blow to his signature economic policy and represents a stinging political setback. The justices ruled the president did not have the authority under a 1977 emergency economic powers law to impose a vast array of import levies on goods from nearly all of the nation’s trading partners. The decision is expected to reverberate widely, affecting global trade, consumers, companies, inflation and the pocketbooks of every American.

Good.

My brother sent me the text - and then told me Thomas-Alito-Kavanaugh ruled Trump CAN do this.

No, he can't.
He never could.

And if he has to refund stuff, well, tough.

Of course....what exactly are they going to do WHEN (notice I said WHEN, not IF) Trump gives them the middle finger and does whatever he wants anyway?

Because this Congress isn't going to remove him, and he can't be prosecuted so.....

That is the million dollar question. Do Republicans value our system of government or are they content to have Trump impose his will on our nation? Do they want a constitutional republic or a dictatorship?

If Trump ignores the Supreme Court and no one checks his power, rational people must begin to seriously worry about the midterm elections.

Actually, Edward Gurney, who was elected Senator from Florida in 1968 used "make America great again" to become the first Republican elected to the Senate from Florida since Reconstruction.

Reagan actually had it in the 1980 Republican Party platform:

Bill Clinton used the phrase when he declared his candidacy in Little Rock on October 2, 1991.

But sure, folks, Trump invented it.......he just copyrighted it and grifted a bunch of morons.

Exactly. Why would this stop Trump when there are never any consequences for breaking the law?

This would be the perfect time for a party that wasn't castrating themselves while awaiting to attach onto the spaceship hidden behind the comet to.....you know, throw him to the lions, replace him with Vance, and TRY to salvage the Senate before the November elections.

I mean, he's a lame duck after them anyway so........

Does this mean Trump is no longer sending us each $2000?

My MAGA cult member mom is not going to believe this. She was just reminding me about the coming checks last week. Seriously, she was. My daughter wants to go on a mission trip to the Czech Republic, but we are not sure how to pay for it. My mom brought up the tariff checks as a way to help pay.

But if we ask if MAGA/Republicans are ok with all of this, we run the risk of them thinking we are calling them idiots. Even though for all intents and purposes, the assumption would not necessarily be invalid. :D
