UGA gameday thread II...

It's the Devil's own choice. We're better on defense with Hollinger in, but then, there's Steele's clutch instincts. I think I'd consider playing Hollinger about 2/3rds of the game and abandoning the high post for the time being and going back to the motion offense we ran last season until Ron improves. He is better, but he's still only around 75%...
 
Great, Great comeback for us. We showed great heart and finally some good D in the second half (26 pts. by UGA). Keep this momentum rolling on Tuesday.
 
Well, congrats bball team on stepping up to the challenge and playing like we all know you can play.
Ron Steele is one of the best point guards in America (I know, newsflash, right?), but he would be absolutely scary if he was 100 %.
Right now, I think he's at about 70%.

Great win, really had to have it.

Defense is suspect, no doubt, and I agree that were a zone team. Riley and Gee can really cover ground quickly in it. And although Georgia was hurting us with the threes, it was more them being in rhythm, and even though you would think zoning a good shooting team wouldn't work, we took them out of rhythm with it and that was the key.

I don't really like the high post, seems like we don't get very good spacing on offense with it. Think were better with just a pure motion offense.

And Ronald is not playing up to par, but he's still our most clutch player, we need him whether he's 100 percent or not.
 
Regardless of a 50 point half of lack of defense or needing a game winning shot, I feel like that was a huge win for this team. We were 1-2 in the SEC and down 18-2 at home and down 15 at the half, apparently well on our way to a disastrous 1-3 start and losing a 16 game home winning streak. But the team showed some heart and came back, and we are now a very respectable 2-2 (considering everyone in the conference except Kentucky and Florida has two losses or will soon have two losses) and now have a 17 home game winning steak. I hope this was the turning point in the season. They were at their lowest and came back. Now they have momentum and confidence, and I hope at the end of the season we can look back and say that game is where the season turned. I like what Gottfried said in his post game interview. After the Vandy game he took almost no credit for the loss, he pretty much just said, Vandy was unconcious the whole game and we couldn't have done much, it wasn't our defense. But this time he said they had to get better on defense and he knew that, and he was going to review the tape thoroughly to improve things. But he also mentioned how teams are playing at such a high level against them, (Georgia hitting 3's behind screens 3 foot behind the arc), and he knows teams can't hit every shot like that all season. Anyway I guess my point is, I am very optimistic that our season can turn from here. But I guess we will get a chance to see Tuesday...Roll Tide.
 
I thought RS got away with one.
With that said, GREAT JOB to come back !!!
If a team loses a 19 point lead, officiating didn't cost them the game.
There's plenty of blame to go around on their part, and plenty of heart on ours'.
 
He may have dragged his pivot foot, but in my list of violations that are never called, that's pretty low on the list. The no call charge at midcourt certainly evens things out.
 
Just got back from the game. What an ending!!! Ronald Steele needed that for his confidence. I'll agree that we are much better on defense with Hollinger in... UGA tried to expose RS on defense, which they were successful at times. But RS is all heart and he answered my question of whether or not he should be playing. Great win and let's kick some Barner butt Tuesday!!! RTR!

Yes. Hopefully they will play Holinger more. His D really helped.
 
This was the most exciting finish to a game since Arkansas at home last year. Both times I thought the games were over, then RS lead us to an unbelievable victory.
 
I was so wrapped up in alabama coming back that i wasn't able to figure out who was on the floor during the comeback? I noticed that both Hollinger and Steele were in, so did that take out Gee or Riley, or did Hendrix or Davidson come out...I actually really liked the line-up (whoever was out there) and think that it could be really effective against teams that rely on their guards for their scoring.

Also, for those who were there in person for both...which was more exciting, or improbable, or whatever adjective you want to use, Today's game or last year's Vandy game? I watched both on TV and they are the only two times I have ever jumped out of my seat in awe while watching basketball...
