Re: If reports on Saban hold true, is it Johnson or Grobe (or someone else)

NYBF... like I mentioned, I am not certain who will be our #2 at this point. I'm of the opinion that certain ones I mentioned (and a few I didn't) probably hold the backup spot... but none have emerged as a clear-cut leader. However, I might add that regardless of Saban's situation, we probably would not be far from having a #2 on the way to Tuscaloosa. In fact, IMO, I would say we've got the #2 choice all but signed at this point... I believe all that seal the deal would be NS saying a final "no" to UA.
Thanks, and I suspect that you are correct. If we decide to make a hire like SK, let's give him time to grow into the job. It would take a few years for him to learn how to get it done in the SEC.

It would not bother me to see the team take a few years to build, as long as progression was obvious. I would rather have a program that can sustain itself than a single run at a NC. But I don't live down there, and I only have to listen to an Aubie when I talk to my sister...

I think Grobe and Johnson are on our list but I'm predicting neither will come if offered.

BB, I unfortunately agree. Not sure who will take the job but I am beginning to think it will be somebody who has not been mentioned and has never been on our radar.

Guys... I've just steered the Johnson/Gruden threads to this one. Since it may pick up more discussion here and combine everything into one thread, let's try to get the discussion back to the original topic.

Re: Who's Next in Line Behind Saban? Johnson, Grobe, or someone else?

Of the known choices out there...mine are

Backup#1: Paul Johnson
#2: Greg Schiano
#3: Gary Patterson

However something tells me MM's backup is probably Chan Gailey or Paul Johnson.

I hear some on here say If you wasnt on the (A list) you would have reservations about coming And nobody else wants the Job. Far as I know were still after the best coach we can get. So if I was a coach and didn't have a div I NC I wouldnt be offended, I would be greatful for the opportunity And a chance to prove myself If was waitin in the wings how many have the facilities we have the national exposure C'mon guys get real:p Merry Christmas to all on this board and ROLL TIDE :BigA:
