Bama Game Thread: CFP Selection Show details (12p-4p EST ESPN): Times, where to watch; Selection show 'game thread'

Will our fans travel?

Will Alabama draw large tv numbers?

Will a critical mass of players actually care enough to compete?

If the answer to any of those questions is no, then we got the bowl game we deserved.

Granted, one can’t know the answer to those questions, but people can project. I guess the Citrus and Gator bowls ran their numbers and made their picks.

Those are the questions I've wondered about as well.

Does anyone know how Bama did TV and fan travel in the few non-playoff or non-championship bowl games over the years, especially two seasons ago? (I think 4 since 2010.)

I know that. I'm just pointing out all the complaining and everyone finding a reason to blame him for missing playoff, losing players to portal... I'm like dang... Personally, I'm glad we didn't make it to playoff because we would've been embarrassed at some point.

Johnny musso is one of my favorite Bama players, Musso22…..but couldn’t disagree with you more. Jalen Hurts was a late second rd pick…Milroe has less than zero chance at starting an NFL game.

-PFF has him at #12 on their big board going to the JETs at #7
-walter camp has him projecteed as the 4th QB taken, late first round
-NFl mock Draft Database has him at 17 on their big board, third QB taken.
-Athlon sports has him rated as the third QB taken
-sporting News has him as third overall to the Cleveland Browns.

Perhaps an NFL team, with its unlimited resources, and Jalen working full time, he can be an NFL starter.

I would rather lose a playoff game than win a bowl game named after a company that I have no idea what they do. It's also why I don't like the idea of potentially dropping big OOC games. I want to see those games, I don't want to watch us play Livingston State. I mean I will watch it, but I'd rather watch us play FSU and Ohio St. But I get the reasoning for reconsidering those games.

It’s embarrassing to lose to Vandy and OU.
It’s embarrassing to hear other fanbases justifiably mock us.
I’d much rather be embarrassed in the playoffs than going to a supposed “means nothing” bowl game ‘cuz WE ARE ALABAMA!
If you can’t see and admit JM is the main contributor to this year’s failures then you’re in denial.
Yeah, the defense was the main contributor to the Vandy loss but when OU rattled him HE WAS DONE. UGA did the same to him in the 2nd half of that game too. We were lucky to squeak that one out.

I've been saying for a long time that he would be perfect for the Browns. It would just be another routine disatrous move for them. Do they have any money left?

What you fail to realize that in the Oklahoma game, the play calling was horrible. That was lazy game planning from coaching perspective. You can complain all you want, but The thread has completely went off the rail talking about playoff and shifted focus to blaming Jalen all of sudden and that's not fair. You can't sit there and say I'm being in denial when everyone wants to blame him for all of this. The team as a whole failed together as a team. That's how I look at it. Like I said they will learn from this and apply lesson learned to ensure this doesnt happen again.

Know what you mean about wanting those great games scheduled. Slightly off topic but SMU played a team I've never heard of...and that's hard to do. They beat the Houston Christian Huskies.

Geez, Booger is already setting up his "explosion" moment because it doesn't go the way he thinks. And McElroy is pushing his same agenda from last night.

I defended McElroy for a while, but he obviously can’t find a happy medium of not appearing to be a Bama homer without grossly overcompensating, even with several years to improve. If I were the AD I’d request the network not have him announcing any more Bama games since it’s a problem for him. Sankey probably doesn’t appreciate him cheerleading for the loser in another conferences championship game to jump an SEC team either, so he might be looking for another gig pretty soon.

JM has been boon or bust for two years. He makes poor decisions and lacks effort when things go south for him. He talks leadership in interviews but doesn’t display such. He’s won games because of his talent but he’s compromised games as well. I’ll not argue about it any longer.

I googled. they have been playing football for 11 years and have an overall record of 31-91, so real powerhouse team there

I know I've been hard on the team the last 2 weeks but they deserved well better than that fate.

How did Byrne, or Sankey let this happen. If it weren't for the extra practice and $5.00 we'll get for this bowl game, maybe we should opt out.

That's my concern. In this modern era of college football, where this game is meaningless, will we mail it in, or show up and finish strong. I hope we will finish strong.
