Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Not wanting to get flamed here, but I kind of agree. Since he did commit to Auburn, and IF he is talking to the Bama coaches, I do think the Auburn coaches should have the opportunity to speak to him - and yes, I do think they need to be kept in the loop either way.
I agree that IF they have not talked with au's coaches they should contact them and inform them of what is going on. I will say that the coach does need to step back and let the family handle this. Since the family is close, intelligent and intact, the coach needs to respect the family and let them handle it.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

And don't forget Ok State wanted to help the movers get him out of there!!
Chattbritt - I missed your response - sorry! :)

I just think if Trooper were that "dirty", he would have already had repercussions. He has been named National Recruiter of the year several times. As for the Ok State crowd, when it was first announced that he was coming to Auburn, they were all crying and whining. It was only later that the "Trooper is dirty" talk started.

Time may prove me wrong on everything - I do not have my head totally "buried in the sand" like many of you think. Yes, I worry about future repercussions for our program. How can I not? I read every day about "something", but none of it has ever come to fruition yet. However, like I said, I am not going to automatically assume EVERYTHING associated with our recruiting is underhanded or dirty.

A school in a state other than Alabama may be a good choice (Iowa and NM wouldn't be at the top of my lists, however). After all, one fan base is always going to bad mouth the kid if he comes instate.
That happens even without what has happened in this situation. Fringe fans and even some that are normally rational let our rivalry get out of hand.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

I think from a professionalism standpoint he needs to speak directly with CGC and explain what's going on with him. Maybe give some form of apology for all the confusion. But after that, continued correspondence isn't owed to anyone that the Ck and his family hasn't agreed to.
Yes, I agree Bamabuzzard - just a simple "I am sorry for all the confusion, but I just want to do what is best for me". Then, stand back, breathe and clear your head.

However, that goes for CNS too!

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Sounds like the coach needs to shut his trap and realize this is a family issue and has absolutely nothing to do with him! As a parent it would drive me nuts to have someone outside of my family running his mouth and trying to get my child to do something. His behavior is up to his parents, not you coach, so butt out! That line about him wanting to move forward is completely ludicrious. Remember your place coach, and start occupying it.
That was exactly my point in the above article. Cyrus and his family are the ones that will move forward. Coach just needs to move sideways out of the way.:)

Correct but all indicators are that Alabama's staff isn't the one keeping his phone hot. In fact Coach Saban's name hasn't even been mentioned. Coach Sunseri was the one that got the call yesterday.

In all fairness, I haven't seen where either staff have been blowing up his phone.

I agree here. I really don't think there needs to be all these calls back and forth.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

You're correct, IF the family chooses that they do not want to keep continued communication with CNS and staff. But my point is once the initial correspondences of "Hey guys, I apologize for all the confusion here's where I stand" is out of the way. Then at that point the family isn't obligated to equally and "fairly" keep constant communication between the two. If CK's parents want to speak more to the AU staff than the Bama staff (or vice versa) then they have that right. It isn't a case of being "fair" or "unfair" at that point.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

in all honesty though, if you're actually 50/50 between Bama and the barn...if you're genuinely having difficulty with the decision....you don't belong at Bama in the first place
Thats actually a ridiculous statement. Players who did not grow up in the on-going hatred between Bama and Auburn don't feel the same way about the rivalry. Saying that if a player is split in his decision, he doesn't belong at Bama is just nonsense.

If true, then we would lose out on a lot of good, out of state players.

Playing time is a bigger factor than a fan bases obsessive hatred.

I'm just going on the gist of what his friends said on their way to IHOP yesterday. My bad about the auburn staff. I thought in the al.com article above all the auburn coaches mentioned were in calls to/from Cyrus. I reread it and those particular calls are calls to/from the coach. Sorry on that one.

But today I will talk to him because I'd like to move forward.
That is a quote by McGregor. That just comes across wrong IMO. The coach, the one that will not regret or enjoy the decision, wants to move forward?! Give me a break!

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Who cares about the Barn.....Bama has had a 2 year relationship with Cyrus..Allbarn 2 weeks....They told him all kinds of "creative" tactics to get him to listen to their BS and then basically told him he would start next year......he listened, and his parents realized the lies and wanted the big kid to sit back and see it for what it is.........BS! Now if he decides for the Barn then so be it...good luck to him with his next 2 years of 6-6 ball because that is what is headed for at the Barn.......

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

His HS coach might be part of the problem.

From al.com......Because he picked Auburn he needs to talk to them," McGregor said. "He needs to explain to them what he's thinking, what's going on and if he changes his mind he needs to tell them. Alabama is being kept in the loop, but Auburn is the school he chose and they are the ones who deserve to hear from Cyrus."

McGregor told Rivals this morning that he hasn't talked to Kouandjio recently.

"I haven't talked to Cyrus yet today," he said. "I called him a couple of times last night but he didn't get back to me so I figured I'd just let him breathe for a little bit. But today I will talk to him because I'd like to move forward. (the coach would like to move forward?! Oh, excuse Cyrus for putting you out while he decides his future. I didn't realize this involves you past today.)

Then from the same article the coach sounds a little more calm....."I don't really know how this happened, if Cyrus wasn't ready to make his choice I would have liked him to have delayed the decision. He can't go wrong with either school, it's just picking which fruit you like better, apples or oranges, and just pick one."[/I]

McGregor said he spoke to Auburn coach Gene Chizik twice yesterday as well as Auburn assistant coach Tommy Thigpen. This morning he spoke to Auburn assistant Ted Roof. McGregor also spoke to Alabama assistant coach Sal Sunseri.

McGregor said he wants Kouandjio to talk to Auburn coaches today.

"I'm hoping to get him talking to them at noon today and maybe we can figure a few things out," he said. "I'd rather he make his choice and be happy with it because he can't go wrong either way. But if he's not ready, he at least needs to keep them in the loop."

Well! Actually, he can go wrong with the fruit he picks. Red "Crimson" Apples are Delicious. Those ORANGES can give you Acid Reflux!

The coach really needs to stay out of it and let Cyrus decide what he wants to do. He does not need any more PRESSURE added to what already exists.

hes already been sanctioned once, while at auburn for the first round of 4th of July violation day on the plains. TT is dirty and he always seems to find a handler and a non profit org to put the cash through, Auburn already having Chet on campus was just the perfect combination.
