Not sure about the Barn being a dream job. But if Gene says its his dream job then who am I to say any different. I guess any hire is something, but what? :BigA:

No doubt, Saban is an awesome college HC! However, the only common coaching comparison between Monte and Saban is the NFL.... Only one of these gentleman was actually successful in the NFL, and it wasn't Saban.

You'll have to educate me. I didn't realize Kiffin was ever a head coach in the NFL. Who did he coach for?

I actually feel bad for Auburn fans. No fanbase deserves this kind of incompetence at the top, no matter how much you dislike them.

One thing is for sure though, Auburn fans have an excuse when Bama and everyone else beats them. They will be able to say that they were down because of incompetence and bad coaching hires. They will be correct. Really, I'd rather beat them when they are competitive. This just takes the fun out of it.

I have the utmost confidence that the seasoned, experienced veterans that run our in-state colleagues' athletic department have made an excellent hire.

No one can doubt that Tubberville was unpopular and underperforming, while everything I gather from the various forums and boards is that Chizik is an exceptional coach that Auburn were lucky to grab before word of his true abilities leaked out from behind the very heavy smokescreen he has skillfully put up in Iowa.

That, and they are screwed. Roll Tide.

A part of me wonders if perhaps the powers that be at the Barn know that they have no chance of succeeding while Alabama is dominant, and so they've decided not to even try. That way in the future they can always claim that the reason they suck is because Tuberville left them in the lurch and the only coach they could get was incompetent.

I'm not serious, of course, but it's difficult for me to imagine a realistic scenario in which hiring a coach on a 10-game losing streak, whose job security at his current school is shaky at best, is a good idea. What on earth could they be thinking? I am mystified. There's taking a chance on an unproven assistant, and then there's taking a chance on an abject failure. Unbelievable.

Why are you posting here again? I always appreciate the view of a rival team's fan, but you aren't really adding anything to this discussion or any of the discussions on other threads that I've seen you post on. You're only pointing out where you believe everyone to be wrong and try to get a UT jab in when you can. I suggest adding a little more color to your replies and stop trying to instigate.
