Wolfe is done. TJ surgery today in Birmingham

Booth could possibly move back to 3rd and Montgomery catch, but that hurts us at the plate. Tullidge has big time "happy feet" and that's not good at third base, especially in the SEC. There have been some others at third some this fall, just can't recall all the new names, I'll pay more...

    local kibs

Booth and Gregory are both having great falls, Gregory especially is twice the player right now than he was last year. You won't see either Tullidge boys this years unless it is in mop up duty. Cole will be at third and outfield with Dugas, Miller, and Gregory, and others waiting is pretty...

Diamond Notes : Alabama Enters Fourth Week of Fall Practices

One thing is for sure-with not being handcufffed by the Nike bats we will not have to be as sound on defense, the bats are going to make for a huge difference. Agree that pitching is going to be a problem if leaders don't step up. Not real sure what is going on with Wolfe, seems to be really...

    anybody

I really don't look for Rosecrans behind the plate 6'4" is a bit tall for a catcher plus in my opinion Montgomery is not too bad. Agree that Booth is your frontrunner there if only for his bulldog type mentality. We have been spoiled with Brock for a couple of years. Yes we will hit this year...

    anybody

From what I understand Guilbeau got knocked around yesterday pretty good, Rosecrans and Smith hitting bombs off of him. Probably a good thing, needs to come down to earth a little bit based on what I am hearing. Harbin is still there and pretty much a favorite of all the guys, he got some work...

first fall practice looked really good today

You are talking about Kenny Roberts at 2nd base, he is the juco transfer. Big kid and can hit, not the best of hands and feet but they'll sacrifice fielding for hitting any day of the week. Kelton recovering from foot surgery after the season, not sure where his spot will be, possibly DH this...

    Thoughts about today's games

Just wanted to say that we all need to remember these boys and what have they have been through this week before any bashing starts. They have experienced more this week than the average college athlete should have to and some are very lucky to be alive. The team has worked in the community...

    UF game 3 question

Have to chime in here as some of us watched all three games and Sanders played lights out at second base all weekend, not to mention he and Reaves tied for the most hits. Now whether or not he keeps that up remains to be seen. But from a defensive standpoint there were plays he made robbing...

    Fla game 1

Actually Zona some buddies and I watched the game on Gator vision and Sanders had another hit late in the game but more importantly he was a stud at 2nd saving at least 2 or 3 runs early in the game to keep us in it. At least there was a small bright spot tonight. Still hate the nike bats.

    T. Dugas in the 3 spot

I've watched numerous games at the Joe this year and it really doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that Tullidge swings up on every ball. My point is we have a hitting coach that from all accounts is either not seeing these type of simple things and working with the guys or he is working...

    T. Dugas in the 3 spot

Aside from Dugas, Reaves, Smith, and Bennett Gaspards philosphy at the plate has been "what have you done for me lately". If Rosie gets hot he stays in, if not then Kindred comes in, if Brandt gets a hit he stays in if he stuggles then not and so on and so on. Gregory hit the ball hard against...

    VU game 1

I am beginning to wonder what type of hitting coach Andy Phillips is? Our bats have really been silenced lately and our approach at the plate is lousy. Sometimes it doesn't pay to hire your buddies. Just because you played in the bigs doesn't mean you can coach. I have yet to observe him...

    Alabama vs. Auburn

Makes you sort of wonder what the heck Phillips is doing with the hitters? I am sure one day he will be a good coach but just because you played in the bigs doesn't always mean you coach great. There is a ton to learn and each player has different assets ect. that should be utilized or...

    Alabama vs. Auburn

True enough and the sad thing is Gaspard and his staff actually believed after last weekend that it was an offensive explosion! Northwestern and Eastern Illinois were horrible baseball teams, from here on out he better come up with some answers or it will be an extremely long season. Wolfe...

    A few quick thoughts...

Excellent points! Agree somewhat with you on the defensive side especially with Smith in the outfield. He can make the routine plays but lets face it is not going to throw anyone out at the plate or run down any balls. Miller and Hendricks have the only arms capable of that and really Kelton...

    Zylstra out for the season

Just to update all - Jason had surgery this morning at UAB and all went well. Friends reported that Doctors were very confident that he will make a full recovery and did not rule out returning to baseball. Continued prayers for him and his family as the rehab and recovery will be a painful...

    Friday game vs. Northwestern State

This team is going to have to really fight and tonight I think proved that they can do it. Maybe Zona will give them some credit for not tanking it in, or since Zylstra is out they have a spot open for a pitcher, maybe he is interested. Even the almighty Dugas who he claims to be the only...

    Zylstra out for the season

Zylstra is a very nice quiet young man. Horrible accident and very lucky it wasn't paralizing.

    Rightfield?

Hi Guys -first time here and thought I would add my two cents. I really think everyone is hitting the panic button way too early. This team is very young and needs to gel together instead of shifting everyone in and out. Looking back at last year and as bad as Smith and Wilson struggled at...
